The 9th Meeting of ASEAN Network on Microbial Utilization (AnMicro) was hosted and organized by Institute of Biotechnology (IBT), Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST). The meeting was conducted and broadcasted via online teleconference on October 21st, 2022.
Dr. Tien Phi, Deputy Director of IBT, the current AnMicro secretariat, briefly updated the network activities of the AnMicro members and an overview of the 52nd ASEAN Sub-Committee of Biotechnology meeting held on October 3rd, 2022. The meeting agenda focused on the establishment of three focus teams within AnMicro network in 2022 as follows:
- Bioproduct development: Dr. Marilyn Brown from University of the Philippines Los Banos, Phillipines was nominated as the group leader.
- Fundamental research: Dr. Thomas Edison E.dela Cruz from University of Santo Tomas, Phillipines was nominated as the group leader.
- Grant proposal: Dr. Getha Krishnasamy from Forest Research Institute Malaysia (FRIM), Malaysia was nominated as the group leader.
The next 10th annual AnMicro meeting will be held alongside the 5th ASEAN Microbial Biotechnology Conference (AMBC2023) in Hanoi, Vietnam with IBT as the host.
